Low Energy Cottage

This project called for a somewhat schizophrenic approach – the selective demolition and refurbishment of an old stone cottage, and the building of a large modern extension for an elderly client who required:

• easy accessibility

• good fuel economy

• flexibility in use to allow friends and family to stay in comfort

• a traditional interior

The integrated sunspace in the new cottage allows the client to enjoy the benefits of the sun during winter as well as the lovely views out over the vale of Ely. The dwelling is very fuel efficient and uses an advanced heating system providing automated intelligent control of two heating zones.
