This new housing project reacts to its site alongside a railway line by shielding communal amenity areas from noise with the building. The building itself will use air tight construction and a heat recovery ventilation system to give a high degree of acoustic separation and sustainability. It does this by extracting warm stale air and transferring the heat to cold fresh air without the two mixing. This keeps the internal air fresh without opening windows which significantly reduces heat loss from ventilation and draughts as well as annoyance from noise.
We have built examples of these of these heat recovery systems working with airtight construction at both domestic and residential scales.
